Patreon is the best-known membership platform in the world, and plenty of Indian creators use it. The friction shows up at the two ends of every payment: your fans in India can't pay the way they pay for everything else, and your earnings arrive in dollars through a middleman. Does Patreon work in India?
Yes. You can run a Patreon page from India and fans can pay by card or PayPal. What it doesn't give you is UPI, which is how most of your audience pays for everything, so every fan who doesn't keep an international card handy is a fan who drops off at checkout. Payouts then travel through PayPal or Payoneer and a currency conversion before they reach your bank.
What Aura does differently

When Patreon is the better choice
If most of your audience lives outside India, Patreon's global checkout and name recognition are worth a lot. It also has more established tools for podcasts and long-form video, and creators on a legacy 5% or 8% plan pay less than a flat 10%. If that describes you, stay.
